I'm from Elkhart, and haven't been out yet to check any ice conditions, but it all sounds promising!

From Porter county here, but make out toward your way... I have a buddy from Southbend that we meet at some of the lakes in Kos.county... Wawasee, tri-county, big Chapman, ect....Those fishing holes aren't too far of a drive for ya.

I am in Elkhart and am going out Sun. afternoon. There are so many lakes within a half hour from here I find it tough to choose sometimes. Most of the Walleye lakes are a bit farther though, in the eastern direction. I like to fish Wawasee but on the ice,a four wheeler is handy getting to the good spots as parking is a premium. But, I like to fish the ones I had luck with in the summer/fall, I cant say where though. You might see me out somewhere, blue vex, small to large pile of fish!

I usually fish southern Michigan lakes as well, Baldwin, Long, Coverdale, along with some lakes in LaGrange county. Usually go before day break or right before sun set.
