How many members work construction?

Just wondered how many users work in construction and how many are currently working. I am in Local 166 and am currently working at Garrett High School.

35 years in residential remodeling here. Self employed for the last 20 years of it. Semi-tired now. Meaning I am highly selective about the jobs I take on. That and I am getting too old/worn out for a lot of this stuff, but there are a lot of things I still consider 'fun' to do.

I do.  I've been doing it since age 13.  35 now and wish I did something else.  On a job now where we are working 6, sometime 7 days a week.  Burned out and wishing I could fish more.  Getting my ice gear gathered up again though.  I've been on a project for 9 months now and it doesn't wrap up until 2013.  Glad to have the work.  Just wish I was doing something different.

Interior and a little exterior carpentry. 95% inside finish work Staircases, windows, custom woodworking. I usually refer to myself as a wood manipulator. Coming up I did a little bit of everything footings to finish both commercial and residential. I will say I don't miss working outside in the freezing cold. I will however go fish out in the cold all day but thats a different story  ;D

Carpentry, painting and landscaping. Sticking to the carpentry now.  Hard work but good money. We do just about everything. Did a roof last week, remodeled kitchen cabinets(still working on it) and today I tore up an old brick walkway and relayed it. When I finish college. One more class! I'll be looking for a new job, but until then I'm enjoying the work.

Business owner, consisting of Excavation, Building and Foundation construction and a Civil Engineering firm. Local 131 Plumber & Steamfitter Union for 23 years as well. Tough times right now for everyone...Unfortunate ly, we have not seen the brunt of this economy, all indicators show the US possibly recovering by the year 2018. The worst is yet to come.

I can relate. My parents owned a in ground pool dealership in Logansport. My mom ran the store and my
brothers, dad and I would install and service them. Yup growing up with a shovel that was your best friend! :P
