Great looking shack. We had one very similar. Came apart in 4x8 panels for transport. Thanks for sharing.

I thought of doing the modular thing but i live at the lake so i just pull it home in april and if i want to take it to another lake i winch it up on my 30 foot goose neck trailer.

Joe those pipes are stick holders for my homemade rods. I have since notched them to hold a rod and reel combo.

Very nice.

Do you have a hard time moving that big shack around on the ice if there is slush or snow?  Do you block it up?  I ask because I'm building a big shack.  Are you planning on insulating it?

Thanks for the post.

I'm not gona insulate it it's way to hot in there the way it is. We have abought a foot of snow and have no troubles pulling it with my truck or polaris ranger. I was going to insulate it but it gets unbearable hot is -40.This is my second shack like this and i never insulted either but had big wood stoves in both of them. thanks for the comments.

The  box with the wires is a 2000 watt inverter. I can my lights off a deep cycle battery or a genertaor. I putting the tv and satilight in this afternoon. ;D

Bonus!  That is probably why the perch bite was slow.

I so regret not going 8x16 or bigger, my 8x12 feels small now and I already know im going to want to do it again. Vicious cycle.

Looks great, mind if I ask what you did for your skids/floor? Tough to tell from the pics.

Lol i had a 8x12 and was to small i no the feeling. For the floor i used hurricane hangers screwed to the 6x6 with 2x4`s 24 inch apart i then lag bolted an additional 4x6 to the 6x6 so when my bottom skid wears out i can replace it easily. For the floor i used 2 layers of 7 16 plywood it is built tough and pulls like a dream.

Awesome, sounds like a great setup. I almost regret insulating my shack as well, the damn things are always too dang hot.

Class act move offering to explain it to me over the phone, you went above and beyond to try and help me. Thanks!

If you ever need some plastic for your skids we have a plastic fabrication shop in Regina and sell all kinds of heavy duty wear materials, theres always an iceshanty member discount!
