What do you use for chairs in your pop up?
« on: Feb 20, 2011, 04:17 PM »
I just bought a pop up but was wondering what you guys are using for chairs in them?  Thinking about buying the Frabill camp chairs but not sure if they are going to be comfortable for a whole day of fishing.  Thanks!

I myself find I can't lean forward enough in a camp chair type of thing to fish comfortable. I need a folding chair rig so I can sit on the edge and be a little more ready to set the hook.

We use seats that go on top of our modified 5 gallon buckets.  Not the most comfortable but they work.

I have 6x6 hub pop-up style. I just using camp fold chair style. There no need to be buy a brand name for ice fishing. You just can buy at wal mart camp fold chair style and you will be all set, and those are comfortable! Also I want to share with you guys, I usally bring camp fold chair style and fold table, so I can put all my stuff on fold table to stay off the ice.

Here a picture a similar to what I have:

I use te same chair as Charos10 uses. I have to Coleman Max weight chair. (not that I need it either lol) I do not have the card table tho. I like the look of it but my pop up is 5x6. Not sure there is enough room. One thing I bought and like having is the shelf clam puts out. Very handy for keeping stuff off the ice. It folds up for easy storage. Only when it's windy things get knocked off it.

I use the Eskimo tri fold chair.  Light weight and very well made.  Comfortable to sit on all day as well.

I found chairs in ebay, a bit expensive but they have a small flip up table on one side and lots of pockets on the other. Yeah, they are big, but I'm pulling it all out with the quad and they are very sturdy and comfortable.

Free lay-z-boy  (pretty warm) and a rolling office chair

Wow.. just kidding. I use these in my permanent shack not a pop up...

For a pop up I use a tripod chair.

I use a 3 legged foldup chair. HT Enterprise makes one but the one I got was a 30.06 brand and is same size. You sit upright and it has great back support. The other foldup chairs are comfy but you sit down in them. Recommended. Be Safe

I've tried making what you've called a fix link. If it's not too complicated, how is it done please?

I use the Primos Magnum TriStool.http://www.cabelas.com/stools-chairs-seat-cushions-primos-double-bull-qs3-magnum-tri-stool-5.shtml

I have the Clam Expedition (5x6 hub) and I can have two of the chairs, buckets, heater and lantern.  I also use the stools in my hunting blind (also a pop up hub).

Whatever you get, make sure it has a seat big enough to cover your bottom AND a backrest.  The backrest is essential for all-day fishing.

Just got a Clam 2000, and was thinking of how to make a folding full bench seat. Anyone try this??? Three could easily fit with a full bench. We use   mostly, so the shelter is more just to get out of the wind/cold.

I use one of the original Double bull tri-stools, though the new Magnum series is MUCH more comfortable for extended sitting.

I was poking around Scheels and found a collapsible captain's style chair that was AWESOME.  Heavy as all get out, but folded down nice, and the material on the seat looked a little cheap. Just because of that I didn't get it.  Shame, if it was as heavy duty as the stuff on the tri-stools I'd have picked it up.  Definitely comfortable to sit in though.

Use a chair that folds out like a mini-cot?  Not sure how else to describe it...i think it's coleman, bought at Fleet Farm.n  It looks just like the "Woodsman" on Coleman's site, but has a bag attached under seat.  It is firm, mobile/light, folds flat for transport.
I don't like sitting in the usual camp chair with arm rests.  Too far back, too big in the house...
