lol ok. Might be a couple days. I gotta hit the road and then go eat and drink to much then fish all weekend.

No rush. Enjoy your evening and your weekend! Catch some hogs and share those pictures too. Stay safe and have fun MF
It doesn't sound that appealing to most people I talk to, but going out onto a frozen lake and staring into a hole for the day is my favorite thing to do.

Here is a picture of what was 1 1/2" thick ice. It then broke up into small flat pieces and a strong wind blew them back together in a horizontal position then re-froze. (Circa 1982 on a lake in SE Pa.)

I have the burning desire to go fishing although I know, that if I never catch another fish, that I have caught enough fish!

Arnold's Bay in Lake Champlain today - plenty of ice in the trees after the wind & cold front came in, but not enough on the water for fishing yet !

Converse Bay on Lake Champlain Jan 22 - 0 degrees F, just a skin of ice, and fog moving in from the broad lake. You could even hear the water freezing:

I liked this thread from last year, so bumping it up with a photo from sunrise at Porter Bay, Lake Champlain.

First there was ice, then the wind broke it up, then calm and cold.  The white ice slabs are 2" white above 4" clear and the black ice is 4".

The 3rd pic is on a large lake where less than an inch or so of ice has formed, then kind of broken up and shoved by the wind to shore. How it's gets into those similar sized chunks? Mother nature is awesome. The 4th pic is around 18" of ice or more that has been baked by 70 degree sunshine for a couple days, with many hours of warm wind.. if I remember right the winds howled all nite on it. I can see the lake from a hill when I pull up, could have sworn it was waves and open water from a distance.

Looks like your sitting on open water
If you sit around all day and do nothing your a bum, but if you sit in a boat all day or in a shanty and do nothing they call you a fisherman

the ice was smooth as glass 2 days ago.  last night it got down to -23F and the frost formed, the frost chips are about an inch square:
