Title: NJ Salmon
Post by: acaravaglia on Dec 14, 2012, 12:11 PM
I would love to catch a salmon through the ice. NJ has a couple of lakes with them now. Any advice on bait in this state?

I fish for salmon through the ice a lot and have had very good success with small minnows just under the ice from 2 to 10 feet with #10 bait holder. i use a 8 foot 4 pound florocarbon leader and all of this under a tip up. Small minnows work best because salmon are very choosy with what bait they take. Plus a good lively minnow ups your chances of a bite.  Hope I could help and good luck!!!! ;D ;D
