Title: My fish finder
Post by: icefisher-45 on Jul 12, 2019, 05:14 AM
I’ve gone onto the My Fish Finder site and it doesn’t seem to have a lot of people on it. Does anyone from ice shanty go on that site?

ice fishing is really concentrates people across all areas because the techniques is pretty much the same.  There are obviously different methods, different baits, different fish, but ultimately the concept is pretty much the same.  drill a hole and drop line down it.

What that does is make a web forum like this very popular.  There is much more in common with a guy jig fishing for salmon in Washington and a guy fishing for crappies on farm ponds on ice than their is a guy downrigging for salmon with dodgers and a guy flipping frogs in weeds for bass in alabama.

Which is why my fish finder (its not alone.  most fishing/hunting web forums are dying) has nowhere near the popularity.   Because you can find very specific groups for fishing techniques, regional areas, etc.  but ice fishing transcends all that.

enjoy iceshanty while we got it.  its run well, laid out well, and is done properly in my opinion.

MFF is the first that I visit everyday. Check out how the guys are doing on Oneida, I update Sacandaga almost every time I go out. Check to see what is being grilled and see how the gardens are doing.

I do know that FB is now being used by many that use to post on MFF.  Most summers are very busy for many, plus there isn't as much to complain about, unless its bugs, too hot, have to mow the lawn, etc...h2l

I'm always signed on there and check it out several times a day but I'm not posting much this year. I've been busy with "things" and haven't been out much. I think maybe 3 times this year so far and I did more paddling than fishing. I check in every day just to see if any of my buddies have anything to say but it's been a quiet season so far. Honestly, lately I've been dreamin of drilling holes and hauling toothies out of the ice.
