I'm looking at a Shappell wide house 6000 for 229.00 and wondering if its a good buy or should I stick with clam? I like the idea of "made in USA" thats why im leaning on it a little more. Will it hold up? Or maybe a eskimo? Let me know what you have and how you like it. Thanks

Quality of material, zippers, etc. is definitely top notch.

for sure top notch i have the brief case s3000 it is a good product. i hear clams are just as good and have heard a few bad commnets on eskimo seems etc... busting pole breaking etc... at the hub points. i have two 15-20+ years old minute men shantys from shappell. they make a good portable shack that will out last a few others. same reason i got my s3000 and they got good web site that sell there products and replacement parts.

i ordered the shappell widehouse 6500 from mills fleet farm for 199 and free shipping gonna be here tommorrow cant wait to set it up.

I bought the Eskimo FatFish 949 from LLB, but would have bought a Shappel Wide in a heart beat had they carried them. They only carry the regular Shappel 6000.
AND I paid more ~ I would buy it.
(BTW I bought it at LLB due to if anything EVER happens to it ~ back it goes)

I just got my brand new Widehouse 6500 the other week. I set it up but haven't used it on the ice yet. The quality seems great. I am also 6'7" and don't feel claustrophobic at all in it. The fabric seems very thick and durable, and I was able to set it up for the first time in under a minute.
