Update for long point. There is a construction crew working on the point. They are clearing a path with an excavator out to the tip. Said they are going to continue to install large rip rap boulders from where they left off years ago along the north shore all the way to the bath house. Not sure what it’s going to do for the fishing. Wouldn’t be surprised if they close off the small lot also.

NO doubt Game Hog, there are definitely some ppl who give quality reports you being one of them. I will admit that in years past I have been nothing but a lurker, maybe using the pm’s more than public posts. I am going to try to change that. I believe that the more people are supportive of one another the more quality reports we will get.
Boy, that last line is a little fluffy sounding but I do think it’s true. Just read a couple pages of the Oneida posts and tell me that the “atmosphere” isn’t different.

Would anyone be in to do a meet up one of these weekends? Put some faces to some names and have a beer. Trade stories or whatever. Usually by noon I start talking to people more than fishing anyway, at least until it gets closer to sundown. I met a few guys from iceshanty down there last year and we fished/talked to each other pretty much every weekend after that until ice out. Just a thought.

It’s just an off brand jigging rap with a minnow head on it. It does look weird at that angle tho.

Better be respectful of private access (anywhere that is not NYS owned)... peeing in front of residents, moving barricades, ripping up lawns so that you can drive an extra few feet is going to get more spots posted. Consider yourself lucky if you can get on the ice at private locations anymore! Spots too numerous to count have been lost due to the aforementioned transgressions. Good luck!!

Excavator was on the ice making its way to the tip of the point last night. Will report back when I get home after dark.

Excavator made its way down the shore almost to the point. They literally pushed all the snow from shore out 30’. Going to make it tricky trying to access the ice on the north side of the point. Did see quite a few guys spread out there tonight. Ice must be improving just in time for Mother Nature mess it up. Knife stays sharp in he drawer.

I'd be in for a BBQ / party on the ice , I'm pretty much resigned to weekends due to the stupid work thing . Judging by the forecast for the next wk or so the ice will be good .

Saturday the 20th looks perfect for a meet up. A little warmer after a week of freezing temps. I’d vote long point as the meeting spot since it’s mid lake. But anywhere with good ice works for me.

Did someone say beer? I`m in LOL! Have not made the drive to Chautauqua yet, got a pond 1/2 hour away and conditions usually similar. Pond 2" clear 3" white today. Yesterday had 9" w/ some water in it. Basically top 4" is 90% frozen slush. Trying Chaut Monday if they don`t get massive snow. Heard a lot of water on ice so some snow will just melt and freeze. A foot that could be a problem??

Next Sat is perfect , 5 of us that usually fish together .hopefully get a good turnout & long point has the parking available .
Beers do stay nice & cold out on the ice , fireworks will be a first !

Might have to take a drive and check out long point area tomorrow. Hopefully shore ice isn't completely destroyed.
