Firman/Heregoes them creeks are some dangerous spots. With the ice still spotty I wouldn't recommend fishing either. Later on in the season I wouldn't hesitate.

DML. I will post back tonight. Headed for deep water tonight.

So no reports from the north end? If I want to fish I should head to burtis for good ice?

Does anyone fish around the point from Burtis Bay out in front of Celeron. Just wondering if you could get some gills there.

Fished Mayville today.  About 20 huts out.  Lots of action.  Caught perch and crappie.   Four inches of ice.   Brutal cold wind today.

Gonzo I have been a few times. Bathhouse side of LP has good ice.

Any one else notice the lake level is up over a foot or is it just me. All my marks have been deeper than what they should be.

Fished mayville Friday afternoon. Tons of bluegills with some crappies to boot. Fished north side of LP this morning with  a guy from work and we both caught 2eyes, but only 1 legal fish. Both spots had 3 1/2"  clear, 1 1/2" white ice.
C'mon, share some info. I do.

heading out tommorow was planning on hitting mayville area stopped after work sunday and people were catching lots of fish but had to weed through to get the keepers but the action seemed good.  Was also thinking about trying for eyes after a couple hours of perch fishing, where do you think the best spot for eyes would be?  I was thinking probably longpoint or belltower in the deeper parts for my best chance at hooking one, but i was planning on targetting them around 3m and fishing just past sundown and dont know if going shallow would be a better option?  I guess where ever im fishing ill set tip ups at different depths and see if i can key in on them based on where i get bits from tip ups.

Also how many tip ups are you allowed to have set per person out on the lake.  And if anyone doesnt mind me asking what do you think the best bait to use for eyes on a jigging rod i was thinking a small spoon tipped with a minnow.

Allowed 5 tip ups per person must be marked with users name and address.  Baits for walleye vary, good options are jigging raps with minnow head, Swedish pimples and halis with a whole emerald work well too.  I've seen them taken on tip ups with small-medium puke chubs also.  The spots you said are great for walleye but my best luck on Chautauqua for eyes has always been the hour or so before to an hour after sunrise.   But later evening into the dark is good also
I fished Mayville tonight for crappie.  Bite was slow, got 6 keepers between 10-12" and about 20 7-8" perch too.  If all else fails try dewitville for eyes and maple springs/midway for perch usually less crowded there too

Magnolia was a no go last time I checked there on Friday. I can see there from where I've been this week and have yet to see a person over there. The top froze up nicely so far this week. Minimal slush. Water is staying in the hole.

Haven't been on the west side of the lake yet this year. I do see people fishing that area. I might stop there in the am. Will let you know.
