no, hammond is only a once a year stop, but should go there more often. Usually fish hammond for crappies.

Yeah. I fish it. It has a lot to offer. Bass, crappies, perch, & muskies! I mainly fish it for perch.

Brad,

Do you ice fish Cowanesque? I fish there a few times in the spring for crappies
and perch, but have been told that you cannot ice fish it. What's the straight
skinny?

I never heard this! I didn't ice fish at all last season. But I'm gearing up for this year! If I find something out I'll let you know.

Seaweed

I did well last year...big bluegills mostly, but I kinda target the hog perch in Pisgah...caught three or four each time I went ,where the lake widens out after leaving the shallow end....nice crappie on occasion also.
Maybe I can meet you there sometime..

Iceintioga,

I have had the same results at Pisgah that you have had. Usually/sometimes
quite a few nice gills, the perch have always been hard to catch. But they sure
are nice, when you can get them.  I only live 20 min from Pisgah, let me know
when you are going to be there and I'll try and meet you.

Brad

I haven't fished that pond...but I am always ready to fish a new spot...
Do you mean the pond that looks sorta like a beaver pond?
I always assumed that that place was private and never thought to ask permission...Have you fished it?

Sounds good, I'll let you know...The lake freezes pretty early, maybe you could check it when you are close by...When I call the ranger for a report he always says.."I wouldn't reccomend fishing it yet", I think he does that so if someone goes through they cannot sue him?

I usually go with several guys, all good folks, a good time...even if we get skunked...looking forward to fishing with you...

Hey i live in Ansonia and me and my dad normally fish hamilton and beachwood all the time i  think that pond you are talking about is beachwood and there are a lot of nice fish in there we just got a new boat and are going to try downrigging in 8 to 12 ft of water hopefully we could hook into one of those big browns we will so fish alot in new york hemlock and lamoka. I am 100% sure you can fish cow vally on the ice all though they do stock it for trout it is a better perch lake and bass. Ps watch for the river that goes through the lake sometimes the ice can be 10 inch's and all of a sudden go to 1 inch and thats not fun the waters moving fast. good thing i was running and only my waste fell in but keepright on going or i might not be here lol i can laugh at it now but not at the time we packed up and got the heck off there

The pond is only about 2-3 miles from Gaines off to the right.

I've fished it in open water. It has some pretty big bass & bluegills. There are no signs around it & I know people fish it. But I was wondering how well it would fish with ice.

Im sure if you fish it from open water it would be good for ice fishing the next thing is how deep it is and how to fish it i would guess with the bass there are sunnies and perch so for the bass i would set up tip ups with 1 to 2 inch minnows and if you want to catch the perch use rosie reds and jig meal worms
