Normark hand auger 200 mm
« on: Oct 13, 2003, 11:22 AM »
Deal All
I am thinking to buy subject item one year old. In general augre looks perfect with little touch of rust. I have never seen augers from Normark before.
Does anybody have expirience with them ? How good are they ?
Is it hard to get blades if I will need them ?
Any info will be very much appreciated
Thanks in advance

I own a Normark 6 inch and beleive  me it cut great no effort at all but I am haveing a hard time finding a blade for it. When it was new about 15 years ago it went through 2ft of ice in seconds with no effort. Ive been on the net looking for a blade with no luck but I talked with someone who said that they still can get them and I have seen a auger on the net that looks like it but I didnt get no info yet to see if the blade will work on mine. Its called  high vilocity hand auger and it is sold at Cabala's But I dont think that they sell the blades.
Anyways Good Luck and let me know if you find anything out about the blades

I own a 6" Normark Finn-Bore III it has a folding
double offset shaft with a rotary top handle. When
I bought it the salesperson told me it uses the same
blades as a 6" Strikemaster Lazer. Three seasons
of use and still has the original blades on it. The
High Velocity auger has cutting head not seperate
blades, seen them in bait shops $80.00 to $100.00

Thanks OG
Very usefull remark.
By the way, why did you choose 6" ? I think it will drill ice easier, then 8 ,because smaller diameter. Probably, I should look for 6" too.  ???

The normark I have does not have seperate blades it has a head that is one peice. I have not seen the newer models but I will tell you that I did touch up the head on mine once in those 15 yrs. I would still like to find a new head though. If anyone out their knows where to find one please let me know. I chose the 6" because most of my fishing is for Perch although I have pulled a few Northerns and Walleyes through it with no problems.

The Normark Fin-Bore III has seperate blades.....it uses the same blades as a Laser. The High Velocity auger is marketed by HT and Nils Master. I believe it is produced by Nils Master. It used a 1 peice cutting system...ie. you have to change the whole cutting head and not just the blades. They claim you don't have to change them unless you hit a rock or cut through sand.

I have a 6" Finbore and I love it. It's super fast and I change the blades every 2 years.

Nils Master uses the same cutting head on it's new power auger. Normark has teamed with Husqvarna to make there new auger which uses the laser blades.
