Helix 5
« on: Jan 29, 2020, 08:53 PM »
Bought a new but used helix 5 the other day. Going to primarily use it for ice fishing. Assuming its a g1. It has DI and gps. I plan on mounting it to a friends genz pack. I believe the transducer is the XNT 9 DI. Do i need to buy the ice ducer or can i still use the DI ducer. What is the easiest and best way to set it up for ice fishing. Im not very electronically inclined

I believe you will need the XI 9 1521 transducer.. Sure you could rig the other one up somehow to work but the ice ducers work a ton better

I believe the XI 9 1521 transducer would be correct for a Helix with chirp.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

best thing to do is either go to Humminbirds website and look up the two or three model of Portable Humminbird fish finders they sell and see what they use on them or just call hummingbird and asked the question..

I don't think you can use down imaging on the ice as you have to be moving like in a boat for that to work..

I would say you would use an XI 9 20 transducer for ice fishing if you don't have chirp.

This is the transducer that I use on my helix 5 non chirp.
Any day on the ice with little to no wind, is a darn good day.

I have a like new XI 9 20 transducer in my basement. I bought it when the other Chirp style was backordered.
I'll sell it, but I'm not paying to list it on this forum. PM me if interested.
