Will I be able to run new wires to each strip if I cut them down? From what I've seen from the pictures online is one end of the 16 foot strip has the wires to run to a power source and the other end is sealed off with no wires.

As long as you cut the LED strip at a certain spot (usually the manufacturer shows a cut spot).  This is usually between every third LED.  It will be at an area that you can see a slight copper area on the strip that will have ++ and --.  There is where you can cut.  If you cut between the other LED's some will not light up.  Then all you need to do is either solder on leads or use another connector to light up the string you measured out.

I'm looking to put some led lights in my eskimo quick flip 1 and need some ideas. I found some of the flat led strips but almost all of them I find are 16 ft long and I don't think I need that much. Does anyone have any suggestions for light strips or bars that I can wire into a Vex battery with a toggle switch?

If you get a 16' roll, you will use it on more than your shack. I put a bunch under my truck topper too.

You can get premade lengths in housings, they are kind of pricey, but less fussing. I am not sure of the mini-USB connector, could be confusing to someone later. It is 12V. I am sure there are others, this is just to give you an idea.

Here is a descent LED overview. Keep in mind all the stuff can be gotten from places like Amazon and eBay too

You cut the strips between the group of 4 copper pads-

If you can solder, you make the connection to the copper pads. Its fussy but doable.

There are solderless connectors-

Here is a decent page, I use it for reference every once and a while.

I would install a dimmer no matter what. These things can be really bright. I have one to these, the knob is workable with gloves on-

I have alwasy wanted to try one of these, looks slim

Awesome info. I'm glad you posted this because I really like the longer strands that you can cut down but I wasn't going to buy them because I didn't know you could/how to hook the cut pieces up. Thanks alot!

Decked out the frabill, added swivel to the seat with storage compartments under the deck. Added lighting and hooks for my heater. ALso, put some skids on the bottom so the sled lasts longer.
