What size Pike
« on: Jan 17, 2007, 09:24 PM »
If I was going to keep a pike or two for eating...what size should I be looking to keep?  And yes I know about having to double fillet them to get all the bones out.
For every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat, and wrong.

Depending on your personal appetite we have always found that a 24" pike is a perfect size for two ppl with the fixins. Depends on how many are going to eat I guess. We never keep them under 24".

25'' to 30'' is about right. Much smaller and they are a pain to get the bones out, much larger and they begin to loose table quality.
