Does anyone know when the ice should start to form over lakes in central iowa?? ???

Not anytime soon the weather forecast doesnt look to promising.  Next weekend should start forming some skim ice on smaller water in Northern Iowa.  Should be out the last weekend in November as usual Dec 5th at the latest.  But the forecast can change very quickly and usualy does this time of year could be a good change or a bad change. :)

I know one thing its getting closer day by day.  All that cold rain/snow that fell will really cool off the water temps. ;D

Me to but the forcast calls for it to be just warm enough during the day to melt anything that may form at night. Hoping the week after Tgiving the bottom drops out. (been froze to death the last two 1st shotgun deer seasons)

I'm located in Cedar Rapids, IA... suppose I'll have to wait an extra week or two before we have safe ice down this way!!!

Unfortunately, saw some skim ice on some shallow areas last Saturday but I'm sure its long gone now. I can't wait to get all my new toys on the ice to test them out.

We had select spots with 2" on Wensday, didnt get over 15 today so rough guess walkable ice right now.

Esox did the ice stay on spirit today?  All our ice blew off clear with the hellacious winds.

I made it out on some small water today walleyewinder and iced some largies. Ice was prolly close to 3 inches and beautiful ice. Never made it over 15 today should have 4-5 by the end of the weekend.  Its here fellas! :tipup:

NE Iowa farm pond was good in parts on Saturday.  2 inches of BEAUTIFUL ice!!!

Great to see the VEXILAR light up again!

Colder weather is coming, i would bet many lakes/ponds will be ice covered next weekend.

To my surprise we still had partial ice after the rain we had today.  Looking forward to this cold spell this week and hoping to hit the ice on Saturday.
