Sorry can't reveal what lake as it wouldn't be right. Indiana has some big pike if you put in a little time and use the right techniques. I think they are under fished in several of the lakes if you ask me. I don't see a lot of anglers actually targeting them.
I have another 41 incher coming in from another lake in a few weeks.
A little tip though: The biggest usually, but not always, come from the lakes stocked with trout.
Mounted a 45 inch northern for a customer out of Oliver Lake once that was just under 26 pounds. That fish was caught in the summer and would have weighed more if it had been winter and she was full of eggs.

Awesome, like to see some pics!

I'll see what I can do. I have a couple of finished ones waiting to be picked up also. Keep in mind I am not promoting my business! Don't ask me my prices here etc. I am not a paying advertiser and it wouldn't be fair to those that are.
I just want to show people there are big pike in northern Indiana.

Just guessing Clear Lake or Hamilton

Nope!

42 plus from northern Indiana that was picked up last Sunday. Notice the regenerated scales centered between the dorsal and anal fin. I see that a lot on northerns.

A couple more waiting to be picked up. In the 39 to 40 inch range.

BTW the INDNR has a really good survey and study on northern pike of northern Indiana available if you ask for it. They predict a 50 inch northern at some point. I would contact Jed Pearson in District III. 260-244-6805. email is: [email protected]

Nice work Taxi, My long time taxidermist has always said you do the best work. I believe he sends all his fish work to you. He does excellent work also but he doesn't do fish.... I have been taking deer and waterfowl to Greg for over 25 yrs.

If you fish for them shortly after they spawn they look like they have been in a war. They beat the crap out of each other when spawning and I would bet that is why you see so many with regenerated scales. I have caught some ugly looking fish with battle scars in the spring time.

I think you're right.

Beautiful work on the mounts Taxi! Lots of big pike swimming in our rivers too. They are a little tougher to fish but a drift down the Tippy or Kankakee can put some quality fish in the boat.
