Location for a large group to camp and ice fish?
« on: Jan 26, 2023, 01:21 PM »
Hey we are trying to find a location in the panhandle to take our Royal Rangers boys group out to winter camp and ice fish. So enough room for two large (18x30) wall tents. Group size would be around 25. Ideally within a hour drive of Oldtown.

Anyone know of any places that would work?

I don’t know if it would be open for winter camping, but there is a lot of camp spaces at round lake but i think it is day use only in the winter but might be worth a call

I wonder about Mirror there is a that Camp Stidwell on the downstream end but I don't know who owns it. Parking on the county road might be a problem, I think that there would be a local with a front-end loader that might remedy that.

Just double check ice for thin spots

There’s plenty of ice on cocolalla to camp out on the ice. I typically use the foam squares that snap together to make a floor.
