Waterproof ice fishing coat -- input?
« on: Jan 15, 2022, 05:49 PM »
Looking for a waterproof coat for ice fishing. Something with some kind of SureFloat would be optimal. Figured this would be a good place to ask for input. Thx!

Most major manufacturers make a version of a float suit..jacket and bibs . Price can vary based on the rated thermal insulation. I recommend at least 100 g of insulation ..I would also recommend getting the bibs before the jacket if you can as you will always were the bibs.   I also think most of the ice fishing suits are more water repelling then waterproof.

Good input. I have bibs. They're toasty.

I asked about jackets mainly bc it seems as if they vary greatly, some of which are not necessary in NJ like the climate suit.

I went with the all black predator. Thanks again

Quick update. The jacket arrived today and goddamn is it sweet. Ample room for layering. Good sleeve length. The true test will be gearing up in frigid temps!

I have the SI Predator bibs/jacket ..for my area is just right ..most days I dont wear the jacket ..I use to wear a hoodie and a vest but have since got a soft shell jacket and wear that with a vest. Good luck with your purchase.
