Driving to Great Slave

I am planning a camping/ fishing trip to Great Slave Lake this summer and was wondering if there is any way of driving along the south side of the lake to the east side. I am driving up from Edmonton and see there's a road that goes to Fort Resolution. Does it carry on past there? If so, any idea as to how far? I will be driving a 4x4 so I'm not worried about rough roads.

I just finished texting my buddy and he says it ends in Res.

If you use google earth there looks like there is a dirt road or trail that leads from tow to the Slave River.
After that yer toast, unless your truck floats.  ;D
