Have never ate a dessert that I didn't like, but... Lemon Meringue Pie would be pretty good.

In Wisconsin I'd say it has to be some type of "fluff" whip cream, marshmallow, cherries etc.

Banana pudding goes down well after a fish fry and is easy to make in large batches.

Everyone is making me hungry for dessert with their ideas.  My next fish fry dessert is going to consist of a mixture of your ideas.  I'll make a fish shaped red velvet cake with banana meringue topping.  To wash it down, a cup of coffee with a splash of Crown Royal Maple with whip cream on top.  Sorry I can't fit the beer in. By the time dessert is served, the beer is long gone.  ;)

If you need a dessert after a pan fish fry you fish poorly.  More fish is the best dessert by far.

Oranges soaked in Disaranno liquor heated & glazed with orange marmalade & confectionary sugar. Pure hit.
Is it sometimes a fish being caught or you?

Some of you were close but here's the deal in God's Country where every spot that serves food had fish fry on the menu Friday night: There's two desserts that rock a fish fry. #1 Lemon Chiffon or Meringue pie. This is good BUT............

In Wisconsin Shaum Torte rules. Here's the skinny: http://fitbottomedeats.com/2015/04/the-schaum-torte/

I'm not big on strawberries but I'll eat this. Best when local berries are in season.
To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!

apple pie  ala mode  ice cream on hot apple pie for those who never had it....

jell'o with cool whip beat in to it so it turns white and frothy  I like cherry and strawberry jolly rancher jell'o I make it so I make it stronger like less water to the instructions on the box refrigerate till almost or just starting to solid up.. then ad the cool whip it take time to mix in with a spoon but you get red or green chunks in the foam lol's don't for get to put in the fridge to do the rest of the firming  up after mixing in cool whip ...

could try fruit salad like ambrosia ? we use 1 bag mini marsh mellows, 2 cans chunk pineapple in its own juice in the can , coconut shredded, 1 small can mandarin oranges in it's own juice , and sour cream .. drain all the pine apple drink the juice then put Into a big mixing bowl. add drained mandarin oranges. and coconut shreds to the mixing bowl to taste some don't like a lot some do go figure.. we add about 1/3 of a bag max of shredded coconut.. add in 3/4 bag of the mini mash mellows  then add in the sour cream I like it so it is just wet or a little more then wet with sour cream once all stirred up the marsh mellows will soak up all the sour cream so make sure to add a tad extra so it a little wet..refrigerate over night then serve with fish  as a side dish too?

all are good too same with banana cream pie? my mom has one that is made with all Kroger stuff if you want I will asker here for the recipe it has crushed oreo's for a crust, pudding chocolate and cool whip and a crushed oreo topping all Kroger brand... it's awesomely  good if you ask me :) let me know if you would like the recipe? for the Kroger one or any of the others?

C-W,  there are various tastes that some folks don't like in ambrosia.

Maraschino cherries, each cut into 6 or 8 pieces.      ;)2

Bananas and apples, that require special preparation to prevent browning.

Both need to be cut into the pineapple juice, enhanced with lemon juice or citric acid. Mix well, soak for 20 minutes and drain in a colander, completely.

Then add to the ingredients of your recipe.

I would like to see your Mom's Kroger Special.   Here or PM, your choice.   Many thanks.    ;)2

2)
whip together with a electric mixer
1 container of cool whip
1 package of cream cheese
1/2 cup powder sugar
place over top of cookie base

3)
mix one small package of chocolate instant pudding with 2 cups milk. let stand in refrigerator for 10 minutes till it thickens up a tad.
that was be for pouring over the second step of the cream cheese base.

4)
after pudding has firmed up pour last sm. container of cool whip over top of pudding and crumble last row over top of the cool whip layer.. chill  then serve...

Wow!   All the ingredients appeal to my taste.         I sent it to my wife, as she is back home in Ypsi for a while, just two blocks from a Kroger, ha.

I may try it from local sources, being a longtime chocoholic.      ;)2

Thanks, C - W.

I'd go with mandarin oranges AND maraschino cherries cut in half or whole ( no need to be chintzy with the cherries  ;) )

I agree, there should be zero room in your belly after eating a delicious fish fry. You have the fish, rye bread, cole slaw and french fries (or pancakes, tater tots, onion rings, potato salad or mashed).

The closest thing to dessert would be the cherries in my SOCO Old Fashions.

I remember that white stuff, back during WWII.   Came sealed in a plastic bag with a small red capsule which got squeezed to pop it, then mix by kneading the bag until the white "stuff" changed into a yellowish, sickening color.     Tasted sorta like Lubriplate gun grease. GAG.     :roflmao: :roflmao:
Butter only since then.

I haven't read much of this thread, but my vote would go to a dram or two of a mellow bourbon and a few pieces of good dark chocolate.

But that's just me.
