It was really slow yesterday for us too - until we stopped at an abandoned hole on the way in and put 5 on the ice in 45 minutes  ;D

I was all set to put my stuff away and now i'm hoping we get one more weekend.

Nice, how was shoreline where you went on?  Hearthstone was good, except it's really chewed up with water showing where the machines get on.

Hunts or icicles anywhere from 6" to 20' under the ice and anywhere in the lake but probably off the brooks would make more sense.

It was ok yesterday - 11.5 inches but definitely lacking integrity. Use caution if you go.

If you don't have or don't typically use a spud bar Id avoid going to LG this late in the season.  Ice thickness is absolutely meaningless this time of year.  If its honeycombed you can go through 11".

Awesome pic but someone’s messing with you if they’re saying it’s George.

That’s always been the beginning of the end .... Vets is almost always the first access to go

I suppose 30 lb stripers and old mans baseball will have to do for the time being 😎

I'd rather be fishing...

Most likely done with the King for this season as well. I don't think the ice will make it through the weekend with the current forecast. Still i'm happy I was able to get 5 hours yesterday and a couple more today despite them being some of the slowest days out this year. Ended on a high note with my girl catching her PB as we were packing up, so nothing but smiles walking off today!  ;D Measured in at a few scales short of 25"

Access at Vet's is gone!  There was a narrow but sturdy ice bridge between the bubblers when I went out at about 7:30 this morning, but when I got back at 12:30 it had collapsed.  I suspect that the 4 wheeler that came out mid-morning was the last straw.  I had to wade knee deep to get back to dry land.

Perch were few and far between this morning but I caught 3 lakers on my perch rig and saw several others on the scope.  Fishing in 35-40 FOW.

Know there was a King George (or two) but never heard of a Queen George. Lol.

I think it was Named after one of the King George's which would explain the King nickname. I know it is also commonly referenced as the "Queen of the America's" so that's where Queen might have derived from. Both make sense to me.

I would be very careful if anyone goes to the king this weekend Sunday the ice was getting those dark death ice patches. I drilled a few holes in the dark ice and it was 10-11in with at least half of that very soft and coming up in chunks as I drilled i would say there was 5-6in of harder ice under the honeycomb ice. With the forecast for Thursday-Saturday that bottom 5in will honeycomb fast !!!!
Go big or go home

I think the king has at least one more weekend left on it, especially the areas with white ice.  Only low 50's and some clouds thursday/friday, was in the teens there last night.    Plank time!

Maybe one more weekend but that's pushing the limits.  Time will tell.  I've seen half that ice disappear in a day.  Saturdays water temp 1ft down was 42!

That was my view of the Sagamore a few Fridays ago when it was 66 degrees.  Once the rain let up that small rainbow appeared on the ice.  Never seen that before.  Good year!
I'd rather be fishing...
