Title: Adding Line to Tip Up
Post by: burtmcgurt on Sep 30, 2012, 10:48 AM
Hey Guys -

I was looking for some advice on the "best" way to add new braided line to my tip ups.  Most are Jack Traps, but I have a few Beaver Dams as well.

For the Beaver Dam's I saw someone using a cordless drill.  I could modify a rig for the Jack Traps to spool them with a cordless drill as well.

Looking for some other ideas!

Thanks

x2, just make sure to support the spindle while you're winding or you'll bend it.

What # test do you all use and how many yards to you put on the spool?

20-30-40 pound line and maybe a little lighter weight for the first dozen feet before a foot of leader.
