Windsor Vermont Ice fishing

So i set out last sat morning at 3 am with my friend Cory. We first hit Hoyt's landing in Springfield Vt at 5 am. Long story shot the ice was hairy but safe with some light action on pike. So we headed up to the Windsor area which turned into one HELL OF AN ADVENTURE! After 10 mins of rain with a temp of 28 degrees the roads became sheer ice. We stopped in grid lock traffic with cars crashing off the road and into each other! It took us an hour and a half to drive 14 miles on 91 North. We were almost hit by two large trailers sliding backward down a bridge right before exit 9.Once the plow truck threw shovel fulls of salt under my truck, us and the rest of the traffic were slowing moving. We headed to the Back Forty bait shop to stock up on bait and do some scouting. We ended up hitting a small lake in Windsor and WOW was the BITE ON HARD! we caught 42 fish in 6 hours! The fishing was fast and you could not even get all your traps re baited before your next flag popped! the total ended up as 18 bass, 13 pickerel, 7 pike, and 4 pan fish! Only a few big boys to speak of but great ice opener! The drive to VT was well worth it and the biggest pike was just shy of 20", and the largest bass was over 6 lbs.

I remember these boys coming in, they looked a little stressed out after a hairy ride.  Sent em across the road here and they were back in two hours for more bait.  Glad you guys had a good time and hope to see you again soon.
