We have an 8" Baracuda....works great! I punch 5 holes by the time others on the ice punch 2.

YOU ARE WORKING WAY TO HARD WITH ALL THEM IDEAS ,A POWER AUGER WILL CUT QUICK WITH LITTLE EFFORT.

I read most of these posts but didn't read them all. I beleive ( i have not seen it in the stores) but there is an attatchment that you can hook up to a cordless drillgun, with the auger, that will cut through the ice seems to me that it would be lightweight. I have a gas auger that I use all the time, and can be operated by two people if needed. Just a thought.

Best thing to have in the truck is a good chainsaw, cut any size or shape hole in ice with it.  Works everytime.
