Catching Alwives
« on: Aug 09, 2010, 11:26 AM »
i've been trying to jig alwives all year to use as bait. i've caught about 5 or 6 in the 4-5 outings that i've had all summer. :(  does anyone have any tips for catching them? any help would be greatly appreciated. it sure does make for a long evening when you can't catch bait.

Hang some underwater lighting off the boat. White and green lighting seem to work best. We generally start deep (maybe 20-25ft) and pull them to maybe 10ft under the boat when the bait turns on.
