new rubber boots?
« on: Mar 03, 2021, 12:44 PM »
My rubber lacrosse boots with removable liners just sprung a leak. Any advice on a good rubber boot? I prefer a removable liner. I have a good pair of heavy duty warm pack boots. Looking for something with decent insulation but can use year round.

I just took delivery of a new pair of Sorel Caribou’s.  Reviews I read say Sorel cleaned up quality problems on China version. I don’t know either way right now but they look good at least. Wait to next year.

I love my muck arctic pros for ice fishing.  That said they are not the most durable for brush busting and other off road applications.

A few of my buddies and I myself have moved away from the muck boots..seemed the quality has slipped with the boots splitting at the seams near the soles...we are now sporting Dry shod boots..quality seems to be there after one season ...no problems so far. The tread on the soles are more aggressive and the price tag less aggressive than mucks. Available in various insulation weights.

Muck boots don't have a removable liner, but do have removable insoles and I like that fact.

I have a pair of Muck Field Blazer for walking, scouting, and ice fishing when the weather is a little warmer.  I have had this pair for about 5 years or so and they are wonderful.  Still waterproof and comfy.

This year I purchased a pair of Muck Arctic Ice in the camo color.  I really like them so far.  Very warm.  Not great for 20F and above when moving around, but awesome for COLD temps ice fishing, and I'm hoping warm enough for sitting in deer stand in colder temps.  My feet are generally what gets cold.  Highly recommended!  This time of year I'm sure you can find sales for winter boots.

Thanks Guys!

I had a pair of bogs and didn't like them. I know Muck are probably higher quality.

I'll check out the options!

The best rubber ice fishing boots out there, with a removable liner. I've found them to be warmer than my mucks.

Hi,

Thanks for the info!  Do you wear ice crampons with these boots?  I have had one fantastic fall, and am curious.  Thanks!

Dunlop makes a nice boot but no removable liner.  Depending on the warmth rating you can get them from anywhere from $130-almost $300.

My wife and I use lace up muck boots- the closest thing they sell now is the arctic outpost. I use them for hunting as well- they have been warmer for me than any Sorels I have had in the past. The 5 mm neoprene is very warm.
