I like it.  Bought an ice ducer for mine but the skimmer works fine.

With my Garmin, I just mounted my skimmer transducer to an old tip-up without the spool, works great.

did you have the portable suction cup mount and float to thread the wire through or did you just rig up your own way to set it level?

I did it the same way as the suction cup mount but used the normal transom bracket and made a float out of pipe insulation.  If you put it on backward and rotate it forward the cable will ride on it.  If you want to use the transom bracket on a boat you can get the suction cup adapter for like $10 and do it like the portable kit does.

No problem.  The DIY float got the job done but you can buy the Vex float and stopper for about $8 pretty much anywhere that sells the flashers.  That one comes with a sheath that I think would help keep hooks from getting stuck in the foam.

This is what I did for my striker 4 skimmer

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to ice fish, have his wife mad for ever.

  • Ice fishing a sport, or just reason to buy stuff?
