When will red lake, mn have fishable ice? one week? 2 weeks?
Depends.
For the last 10 years or so, I have been going up around the 19th of Dec. and have been able to go out in a wheel/sleeper house every year except last year. Last year we had a good 5-8 inches of ice, so we walked out a mile pulling the shack 2 days and used the wheeler to pull it out our last day. Stayed in a wheel house on shore at night. So if it's like any other year should be soon, if it's like last year who knows.
