I ve been trying for lakers at night but I haven't had any luck so far. I've tried under water lights, glow sticks two feet off the bait, jigging, tip ups. The latest I've fished is 10. One night I was out another guy Swiss cheesed the lake and fished all the successful day areas and didn't have any luck either. I'm curious if it will pick up once the march bite gets going.

Found a site saying lakers need light to feed. Full moon with a clear ski might be your answer

I've heard open water is good night bite for lakers.specially if you put a light out.as soon as such  goes ddown I get no bites on ice.they just seem to vanish and if I find one they wont chase.i wouldn't waste the time in all honesty

I've caught them at night while burbot fishing, but not with enough catch rate to make it worthwhile as a targetted trip.  One time I got over a school of little guys and caught 5 in a half hour, but it was a moonlight night, and I think just random luck.  My guess is that they don't move much in the night time, so if you find their hang out, you can get lucky.  My go-to for night fishing, burbot or trout is a 1/2oz glow whistler jig with a glow twistertail grub.  /my 2cents.

It's unlawful in NH after two hours past sunset.

Ive caught lakers and ling cod at night time. Dont know if your going to jig up a ling (burbot) or a laker- is good fun. BUT I have never caught a laker after about 2 hours into the dark. They seem to like the changing lite conditions and if they are around they seem to bite.. Every lake is different, like some lakes can catch ling during the day while others can jig all day and zero bites but as soon as it gets dark the ling start to bite.

- I wouldnt strictly target lakers at night but have caught a handful of them well into headlamp darkness over the years.

I've never had much luck after dark. It seems as though the bite shuts down. at least on my water. Maybe if I'd stick it out it would pick up later? Don't know....
