Clam is bringing the Sno-Boat back
« on: Jan 10, 2012, 09:20 PM »
I wish they would, but was just curious how many others would like Clam to make the Sno-Boat again.

I think a lot of hard water anglers would  but then again!  Who knows, one day maybe.

I like mine because it is light and compact.  Had the clam scout but got rid of it.  Too bulky and storing it took alot of room also.  With my sno-boat I can put it in the trunk of my escort.  With gas prices these days it saves me alot of money compared to having to drive my truck.

Pretty much the same as the Frabill Hideout, I think? Of course, I don't think they are made anymore either. I've still got mine, I don't use it much since I got a flip over, but they still have their place in my opinion. Worst thing was they are a bear in the wind.
I'd rather be :icefish:

My buddy has the 2 man one that is a little shorter, if he could find another he would buy it in a heartbeat, he loves it. I had the 3 and it was taller and miserable with wind over 10 mph, I don't miss it a bit.

I've been looking and looking for another one with no luck.  I got the shorter one also, and could see where the taller one would cause problems with the wind.

I still have one of the three man models.  I too like the height and being able to stand up and stretch (i'm only 5'8'').  I always anchored it when it was windy.  Don't use it much anymore because I usually am going solo.  I've always kept it just in case a buddy with no tent wanted to join me.  Only thing I like better with the flip over style is the deeper tub, works better in deep snow.  I think my snowboat seals up better and retains more heat than a non insulated flip style.
take care,
Dave  :>)

I haven't heard that yet, but it wouldn't surprise me as they try to gain market share.  I haven't used a Sno Boat, but did have a Frabill Hideout that as someone said was very similar.  It was a good shack and served me well, though I prefer the flip over style.  I've seen both on the used market, so they are around yet.

I would be interested in your two man if you ever want to get rid of it.

Came across this older post while doing a search for Sno-boat.  I have a Sno-boat III (model 8813) that's about 12 years old and virtually unused.  Just wondering if anyone thinks it has any value?  Not sure what the post rules are for this sort of thing, but am just looking for guidance before putting on CL.  I don't even remember what it cost brand new.
