jigging for pike
« on: Jan 04, 2005, 09:13 PM »
I've read some things about jigging for  pike but haven't had much luck  yet.  Noone fishes where I live for them using a jigging rod.  Does anyone have any tips for catching pike this way?  I have been using a Genz medium heavy rod with various jigs but not much luck yet.  Any help is appreciated?

Try swimming lures like Raps and Salmos.
Pike always harass me while I'm going after 'eyes.
Also see IF's article about "hot-shotting" pike.

Either me or my brother this weekend are going to try a quickstrike rigged deadbait and just dabble it and slowly lift-fall it on a jigging rod. In - Fisherman once was high on this setup, and my brother caught a pike this weekend on a dead anchovy that he was retrieving on my windlass tip up to check the bait. So I think that will always be worth a try.
