What is the best advice on getting bait thru the mail, keeping them alive and well for a while in the house or garage?

depends on what you get, I use JaDa bait and they ususally send a card that tells you how to care for the bait. Spikes should be kept in the fridge in a siplock bag with as much air out of it as you can and in a drawer is the best. Waxies should be kept cool I leave mine against the outside wall in my basement. After a few weeks put them in the fridge.

Vados Bait.  Awesome place, they will give you instructions for care as well.  Order early in the week or you will have to wait for the following week, bait can't sit in transit over the weekend!
