chumming for pike

anyone ever try chumming for pike? Have any luck? what is good to use?

One of my buddies swears by it, and I do it from time to time when the bite is really slow. I cant say for sure if it really works or not, but it cant hurt. We just use our old dead shiners, mash them up, and send a bit of the chum down each hole. Make sure there mashed up enough so that the pike wont move in on your hooked bait and instead opt for eating the chum.
