Mine fired up with one pull this past weekend, too. On those days when it was around 0 degrees, it took two or three cranks on the first go. I'm not saying it's the best as I have not used any other augers for comparison, but I'm certainly happy with my purchase. I do know this, it beats the heck out of my Mora hand auger!

OH, I forgot to add- I have the Strikemaster 4 stroke- got the Jiffy guys all excited there.

my dad has a jiffy...i think it might be the first one ever made. we were having trouble with it at the beginning of the year. pulled the carb, plug and cleaned them...no better...took of the rubber hose running between the tank and carb and found that we could barely blow thru it let alone any kind of gas goin through..changed it and no one burns thru the ice like we do now
