Saw -23c this morning in Val Marie and it's got the hard water excitement started for me.

There is a little ice forming on the pound already started last night see what happens tonight
-
Checked the ice at lonies on my way through today, a good 6 inches around the shore got thinner as I got out further which is expected. I stopped checking ice and turned back about 40 yards from shore when I hit less the 3 inches of good solid ice. Unfortunately I did not have time to get any lines wet but it won't be long now till we're walking out on good ice

Went out to the park Dec 21, fished just to the west of the beach.
4 hours, 8 holes, no fish.
Went by the trout pond on the way down and there was a family fishing on it.
No open water, no noise from the aeration system, I assume that pond is dead, anybody know different?

Where did all the Perch go...
They are around, on Thursday I caught 20+ keepers in about 4 hours. But only 4 of them came home with me. If you aren't catching fish, keep moving until you do. The bite is super finicky right now, tiny spoons/ jigs with meal worms and light rods have been great.

How’s the bite been on the pound? I’ve been to echo, pasqua, diefenbaker all in the last 3 weeks and they’ve been slow slow. I don’t know if it’s me or the fish... actually I do. It’s them. Right?...

Thinking its gotta be the fish, hoping anyway...

I've been doing well at Diefenbaker but the Qu'Appelle chain has been crap. Next year is going to be slow too because there were 0 walleye stocked in 2020 due to COVID.
On a Buffalo Pound note, has anyone actually targeted burbot on the #? I know they're in there, in what appears to be limited numbers, but they are there. Mostly near the causeway and upriver from what I can find.

Made it out on Saturday from about 3:00pm until 6:00pm fishing was slow. Moved around a bunch until I finally found some aggressive perch. Managed 3 keepers and 2 non keepers in the last 15 minutes before calling it quits. They seemed to like blue and silver the best.
