Walleyes at Nite
« on: Feb 02, 2005, 02:31 PM »
Hey All, The State of Indiana just started stocking Walleyes in a new lake down here, They are getting to be catching size now, I catch a few by accident looking for Bass. The lake is quite weedy but generally clear water, I can see appx 15' deep  I was wondering if any of the fishermen in Minn ever tried to catch Walleyes after dark on tip-ups or jigging?

 Y E S ! !

When the water is that clear, fishing for walleyes from an hour before sun-down until an hour after sun-up is a good strategy.

I to agree with that those are the two best times to try and catch them.

I've caught more walleyes at night than at any other time. Nocturnal fish, the clearer the water, the later I stay and fish!! Have gotten into them at 2am many times!!!

yup night fishing for eyes rules actually, go shallow right off the weedline or rocks if you have any, 3 days before and after the fullmoon will be the best for late night bites but anynight works.
