14000 acres and no people
« on: Apr 21, 2020, 05:53 PM »
Three of us fished on my home lake this afternoon, over 14000 acres of water and we were the only people out there.  Crappie fishing was good.  There is still a couple of feet of ice and it has not started pulling from the shore yet, warm weather coming and the days are getting longer, the end will be coming before long.

Pretty cool Skywagon. Is that an eagle in the background standing by for a handout?

There were 4 eagles around that day and 5 gulls, they ate well.  We dressed the crappie on the lake and threw the guts out to the birds, it is always fun to see the eagles swoop in and pick up the remains, they never seem to miss, the gulls have to take a back seat.  About a month ago when the eagles were just coming back, I took a racoon out on the lake that had (mysteriously) perished, 14 eagles were on it on no time.  We have no shortage of eagles, but because of the quantity of them the loon population is suffering, which is sad.
