A "Wild" Encounter on the Ice
« on: Mar 05, 2009, 08:21 PM »
So as Steady Eddie said in another thread, we fished a small pond in West Glocester today that is a few miles into the woods accessable only by a bunch of different dirt roads.  I guess when you hang out in the middle of no where you are bound to run in to something wild.

I was sitting down jigging and waiting for a flag to fly and all of a sudden this Coyote comes flying out of the woods and starts yelping.  Minutes before that I heard some Geese screaming from the same direction it came from running out from. Anyways, it trotted around a bit, ran up to one of my tip-ups, turned around and grilled me and then took off.

(Excuse all the noise in the first video... I scrambled for the camera and then you can hear me clicking the zoom button at the end and it wouldn't zoom so I turned the camera off, back on and I zoomed before I started to record the 2nd video.)

Was a beautiful day though.  Didn't need a plank to get on and had the pond to ourselves. We first one half of it in the early am and the other half in the late morning/afternoon.

Nice video!!!!  I recognize that pond from the pictures. Did you guys have any luck?  Haven't fished it in a couple years but seemed to do better at the other end by the dam. Nice to see that someone is still fishing instead of being stuck at work.   See ya Saturday :) :)

Hey Paul,

Yeah that sure is a neat pond.

We set up where the pictures were taken in the AM and then moved twoards the dam during the late morning, early afternoon.  The action was slow, I jigged up a pick and we had 3 or 4 flags but no other fish.  My dad lost something small at the hole and something real small shook off my jiggin rod.  We mostly went though for the peace and quiet and that it was!

Didn't sound like the geese got much peace & quiet..
I wonder if that coyote tried to eat one of those geese ?

Cool video..
