Man thats horrible who in there rught mind would do something so wrong. They will get caught and pay it just might take some time. Hope there freaking out right now and cant stop thinking about what they did. I hope ur friend is gonna do well wish him the best of luck, and wish you luck too on finding them.

I've come really close to getting hit before, and can't imagine someone doing it intentionally. If I could avoid being hit, and got a hold of the guy aiming for me, I'd probably be the one going to jail. Do fisherman need to conceal carry now, to defend ourselves from nut jobs like this?

I think all states need to make recreational vehicles have some sort of tag on them (besides the tiny registration sticker), like a license plate so they are easily identified in situations like this.

Keep us updated lipripper. I think I can speak for everyone on Iceshanty, when I say we want to see this guy get some serious time behind bars.

Does rehab entail the ice fishing community getting together and rigging up a sled that'll hold a wheel chair and getting him out on LBDN to finish the plans you made last weekend? If I had the resources, i'd be doing just that. I am willing to lend a hand in doing that, that's for sure! Nothing like 2 dozen perch minnows, 24 wax worms and 2 Vicodens to make a guy feel better eh?

2 broken legs, i'm sure he'd have a prescription, you looked right passed the goodwill gesture and focused on the vicodens, shame on you. 4 years ago, I had a steel plate and pin sticking out of the cast and someone did that for me. I was out of work for 4 months and stuck in the house. It was excellent therapy. I had alot of fun, i was merely making a suggestion to pay it forward, but i don't have the equipment, nor the time, but i'd be willing to help.

I sure hope the victim is recovering and getting better each day. I do hope there is some justice though. Although I've been watching the paper, I haven't seen anything about an arrest even though it seems several people (locals) know who the culprit was. I sure hope it isn't an unsolved closed case. Perhaps an arrest has been made and I just missed it?

I live about 60 miles away from the here in the U.P. I have never seen anything on news or papers after the initial report. Things are wierd up here sometimes. Hope the truth comes out and whoever at fault gets their arse kicked good. Few years back there was a fella shot and killed in downtown marquette in the middle of the day and stuffed in a snowbank on one of the busiest roads in marquette. Never been a arrest in case. Unbelieveable. Steve

Well the one upside is that with this clown taking it to trial when he is convicted he will get a harsher sentence than had he just plea bargained the case away. So he will definitely have much more time to think about his callous disregard for another person. Hope your friend is recovering well!

On a side note unrelated to this story. I have always drove up and ice fished the u.p. This last spring I bought a home up here and just pulled down my team wisco graphic and replaced with a team U.P. graphic. The cold is coming. Here's looking towards a great hardwater fishing season this year! Good luck to all!
