Title: Pasqua/Echo 2020-2021
Post by: Seige on Nov 13, 2020, 10:07 AM
Just wondering if anyone knows if Pasqua and Echo iced over before all the snow showed up?

Buffalo pound was open when the storm hit. Centre of the lake is smooth now but the edges where it was frozen are very rough. Waves were lapping up on then with the high winds. Just saying this as it’s the same chain of lakes.

Anyone have a chance to punch some holes to see how thick the ice is?

Has anyone had a chance to get out on Echo?  Wondering where the safest spot is to get out on foot (park boat launch, fishery parking lot, B-Say-Tah)? I'm hoping to take out the family but want to be safe.  Thanks all.

Went out on Echo Sunday at B-Say-Ta boat launch.  Solid 6 inches of hard clear ice.  Caught 8 small walleye and several tullibees at 22 feet.  Pretty finicky bite but a great day with no wind.

Walked out at B-Say-Tah yesterday good 8” of solid ice. Make sure you wear cleats there’s no snow on the ice. Could skate from one end to the other.

Spent a few hours yesterday afternoon on Pasqua; parked at the boat launch parking lot and walked on quite a ways. Fished in 22' of water, 12" of nice dark ice with a couple inches of snow over top. Not as slippery as it was earlier this month however the sloped area walking from the parking lot onto the ice is a skating rink. Only landed 4 small walleye between 3:30 and 5:30 but had lots marking on the Marcum and missed a few bites. 2 other people/groups fishing on the east end of the lake. Good luck this season!

I walked out at B-Say-Tah yesterday and there was a bit of snow cover until the wind came up. There's a good solid 12" of ice. Ended up with a few Walleye and Perch but nothing big.

People were driving on at Luther land. Ice 12 inches. Can’t get on at park boat launch, ice heaves.

I saw that ridge at the Pasqua provincial launch...gonna have to find a different way on. I was at Echo on the weekend and there's a fair size heave at the B-Say-Tah launch too.

To drive on at Lutherland do you go through the church property? I've never accessed the lake over there.

Go past the church and take a road parallel to main road then turn east on to lake. Boat launch in summer. West side of point.

Dec 28/2020 - On at B-Say-Tah.  Ice about 13"-15" at 4 different locations.

Drove on from the boat launch... locals had chopped out most of the ice heave at the boat launch.

Fished 25' to 30' of water over the 4 locations.  4 small Walleye and 1 jumbo Perch from ~12:30pm - 3:00pm.  Regular marking on flasher, but poor bite overall.

Hi guys, happy New Year’s Eve. Just wondering.. where are the perch located at Fort San? What depth?

Just give me directions to where you are catching them so I can come and catch them. Thanks!

I think they left Fort San! ??? I can't find them either! Seen some idiot left a decent sized one on the ice not far from where I was fishing last weekend! So i guess there are still some in the area. I was there today, no perch, 6 eyes and a 28" pike, all went back in the hole. Happy New Year!

I drive on a Fort Campground, I do see tracks headed that way towards the south side, also see trucks coming on and going off somewhere on the south side of Fort Qu' Applle.

Yes you can get on through the heave now. It's not great access but it's better than it was.

Jan. 3/2020 - On at B-Say-Tah.  Ice about 14"-15" at 6 different locations.

Drove on from the boat launch with trailer.  Some remanent of ice heave, but no issues getting on.

Fished 30' to 38' of water over the 6 locations.  One 3 lb Walleye and 1 Tullibee ~12:30pm - 4:00pm.  Very slow day, not a lot marking on the flasher.

Hey everyone!

I'm new to fishing Echo during the hardwater season. Is there much for parking off-ice and walking onto the lake other than the park? Say around B-Say-Tah or other areas? I have a young family and it makes me nervous regardless of ice thickness driving around on any lake. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Jan. 28/2020 - On at B-Say-Tah.  Ice about 20"-21" at 8 different locations.

Drove on from the boat launch with trailer.  Still some remanent of ice heave, but no issues getting on.

Fished 32' to 42' of water over the 6 locations.  One 1.5 lb Walleye and 2 Tullibee ~10:30pm - 2:30pm.  Very slow day, not a lot marking on the flasher.

Moved to the park entrance at 2:30.  There is an ice heave at the boat launch, but not too high to drive on with.  Fished 35-40' over 2 locations, nothing landed in an hour and a half, and very few hits on the flasher.

Overall a very slow day at Echo.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go for an evening bite on Echo for burbot?  I'm assuming the spawn will be heating up soon.  I've never tried to target them.  I've only caught them while fishing for walleye.

Mar 5/2021 - On at B-Say-Tah.  Ice about 32"-34" at 3 different locations.

Drove on from the boat launch with trailer.  Was easy to get on, but some water running down the launch onto the shoreline.  Standing water at the shoreline when we came off at ~3:15 pm.

Fished 36' to 42' of water over the 3 locations.  11 Tullibee ~8:30 pm - 3:00 pm.  Slow day.., marked quite a lot on the flasher, but the bite was very slow after 11:20 am.

Overall a slow day at Echo.

If we get that warm weather they are forecasting, it will be tough to get on from the B-Say-Tah boat launch as the shoreline will have a lot of water near the boat launch eroding the ice there.  Stay safe!

Went to echo for the first time since we moved out of the area in 2016. Terribly slow day only one fish caught but was a 17lb pike so won’t complain too much. Ice is deteriorating fast, holes would fill with water 1/4 the way through drilling them, still over 3 1/2ft of ice though.
