Does snow cover affect rainbows?
« on: Jan 08, 2006, 12:38 PM »
This may be a stupid question :-[ but does the snow cover on the ice affect rainbow activity, their eating habits, & where they are in the DOW? I seemed to be more productive with Rainbows early this season ??? I read "early ice" is best but it seems like everyone including myself was catching sh?#@ today. Is the oxygen content of the H20 already causing them to calm down? or was it just a bad day ??? Still learning :-\

snow cover effects everything under the ice
less light ='s less photosynthesis by aquatic plants
lower photosynthesis ='s less disolved Oxygen

I would think it would effect the entire underwater ecosystem

or

you could have just had an off day of fishing... that happens too :(
