Drifter is your lake full of cool humps and shelfs that I would associate with shield rock, or more basin-like?  It sure looks like it would have some awesome topo based on the surrounding rock and the islands.  In a territory full of basins I sure do daydream about underwater islands, rock shelfs, cliffs, etc.  Is that a hydro generating station at Greyling Falls?  How big?  That ice line looks like the scariest fun I had all week, no wonder you own a hovercraft... ;D

Yup, tons of good structure.
Small generating station.
It's the Bluefish Hydro Station.

Been down with the sickness for nearly two weeks now.
Still feeling like crap but had to get out to the cabin today to close it up and pull the dock.
There doesn't look to be and days over the next 2 weeks with winds from the right direction to pull it.
Took longer than expected due to lack of energy but she's done.
Water temps on the main lake were 43-44 degrees.
At the launch ramp they were 35 degrees. I expect the ramp will be frozen and unusable in 7-10 days.
The ponds along the roadside were mostly frozen on the drive out.
Air temp never got above freezing today.
Now to sleep on the couch for the next 4 days and then back to work.

Hopefully your going to have a great ice season!

Made it out to the cabin. :)
First time since October.
Light was really flat so the sledding was not a lot of fun as you couldn't see squat and hitting snow humps was pretty sketchy at times. The good news is the locals have plowed some decent roads on the lake and my neighbor has plowed right to his place and put in a great big parking lot for us. :)

Did some trail packing and left it to harden up.
Not as much on the ground so far this winter and I was banging rocks so I will have to bring out the shovel and move some snow onto the trail. The snow we get here is really sugary and doesn't pack well at all and doesn't give much traction.

Now for the bad news, I blew a tire on the trailer on the way home and while I was changing it out I noticed the other tire has some pretty bad cracking going on on the inside of it. My second spare has a rim leak so unless I can fix it tonight I won't be going out tomorrow. :'(

Off topic and jealous.

Drifter, see CBC HNC is in Yellowknife today/night.....did you make it out to enjoy the festivities?

Still have yet to walk on safe ice here in SE Michigan, latest ever in my 59 years.

Was out at the Celebrity & NHL Alumni game last night but am still sick and today I could barely function.
I wanted to get out down to the site during today's fun but it was not to be.
:'(
Here's some pics from last night's game.

Yup!!!
They pulled the wrong picture.
The fish he was referring to was also 83#'s and not 77#'s.
This is the fish that was caught in Deline.

Drifter-016 sorry to read you are still battling the flu glad you could get to the alumni game. Thank you for the photos  is the gentlemen wearing red helmet former Calgary Flames star Lanny McDonald. I recognize his also famous mustache . Since your dealing with illness probably enjoy a good laugh. When I checked local TV new channel's website this morning for the weather forecast the headline was weekend will start with bitter cold today's high was in the upper thirties and  tonight  some parts of the forecast area may get down to 10 .Think the weather forecasters need to spend some time in your area and discover what bitter cold really feels like.
If your still on antibiotics may they help you ditch the flu know you would rather ice fish or be at the cabin then stuck at home.

Steve it is indeed Larry, although he started out as a Maple Leaf where he was drafted.
It sucked when he was traded to Calgary. :'(

Drifter_016 thank you for the reply I've never followed the NHL to closely just remember Larry being on the Flames and helping the team win the Stanley  Cup. You must of had a good day seeing Larry and Wendell Clark play one more game. Hope your doing better today. Is the Lake trout in the photo the new Canadian or world record for the species.

Thanks Steve
It was a fun time.
The fish in the pic was caught in a net so now it doesn't count.
They tried to release it but it was too weak.
It is now on display at Grey Goose Lodge in Deline.

Finally made it back out to the cabin after a long winter of sickness.
Still recovering from a really bad flu bug that hit me hard starting in mid January.

No commercially plowed road to the hydro power plant this year.
Only privately plowed and somewhat blown in after all the winds we've had.

Tons of snow has dropped since the last time I was out at the end of January.

The trial was knee to waist deep in places.
Got stuck a few times.

Got a bunch of packing done.

Damn ravens been ripping up my Tyvek again. :(

Back out next weekend. :)

Glad to hear your health has improved, had to been horrible to be sick that long. Like like beside the bird damage the cabin had held up well for the winter. Looking forward to seeing what you get done this summer, keep us posted and stay well.

Drifter/Dave glad you finally were able to get to your cabin. Other then the raven's damage to the Tyvek wrap everything looks in good shape. You must have had a difficult ride from the lake up to the cabin with snow that deep.

Got out to the cabin today and got some trail maintenance done as well as hauling a bunch of gas in.
Ordered up 60 bags of cellulose to blow in the attic that will be delivered this week.
Should be able to haul a bunch in next weekend.
