The guy who owns Gittin Jiggy with IT posted a video of the ice on facebook, or lack there of at the bank on the 2nd. Before that there was still (from his earlier post) said there was still 2 to 4 inch. In some places.

That wind blowing a little open water around will do that.  Some lakes up north with small pockets of open water near the launches.  Same conditions, skims over and if your timing is right you go from 6 to 1 in one Spud stride if you don't know it was open the day before.  Especially with some snow cover on it.

Glad to hear you didn't get wet...my season is always shorter than most... Not sure if it is being chicken or common sense...guessing some of both since I go solo a lot...as much as I have come to love ice fishing...I'm sure one time going in deep would ruin it for me.

I've been in deep once at summit don't want to do it again that's why I'm going on the side of caution. The fish will always be there. Will check it wed. Morning with spud and picks got spots that produces every year no hurry.  I'm sure there are some on thin ice there but I'm waiting. Hope snow doesn't hurt it.

I went yesterday and where I found there was around four and a half to 5 in not that that's everywhere make sure you check the ice with a spud before you step

A few brave souls on the ice today. Talked to one guy, said he had four to five inches where he was at but have to watch the shorelines. IF you attempt to go, please spud your way out and go with a buddy. Seen a lot of open water.

I was on it this afternoon. Just be careful where you go in at. I had four to five inches once out on the ice. This is the best I could do this afternoon.

I was on summit from noon to dark. Had a tough time in campground cove today so looked around and found some good fish in prime time hours (4:30-6:00)😉

I plan on going after work today and trying my old favorite spot that quite a few folks seem to have decided they like quite well too.

Thanks for the reports guys. Got into plenty of bait sized perch one was a whopping 8”! It was good to mark fish again though. I have been sidelined for the past few years.
