Who uses a Puppet Minnow and what are you catching?
« on: Jan 13, 2014, 12:43 PM »
I have a few Puppet minnows I have never tried. I hear they are good for Perch and maybe pike. When you use them which eyelet do you use and why? Do you tip them and what fish are you after?

Thanks for any info.

I have a few in my box but I don't use them much, I guess I just don't have much confidence in them.

i have them in my box but jiggin raps are on  the line 90 percent of the time the other 10 percent is when they have lockjaw and throwing the kitchen sink at them...u can get nearly anything under the ice with those jigs.

I have had limited success with them for perch, they are not my go to lures.  Center eyelet tipped w/ minnow head.

Thanks guys. I am going to give them a try today. I rigged up three rods and using each of the different eyelets on them. Hoping for Perch or Pike.

i prefer them overjigging raps and i usually start forward and move back as the day progresses (the fartherback the slower they cycle)and will only switch to a slow cycle jigging rap, or a twisted spoon.their my goto search luer and the 3/4"-1 1/2" will catch the smallest of perch to the largest of walleyes course the perch are at the beging o the season. to put minnows on em i either hook one liveone behind the dorsal with the trebel or  the head on the treble and tail on the tail of the jig

An older post, but I think Puppet Minnow works as well as jigging raps.  I love em.
