Jet sled runners
« on: Nov 05, 2018, 01:32 PM »
I noticed in one of the posts about new mods that there was an ice sled where they put board runners on it.  Never thought of doing that but it sounds great.  I do all my ice fishing on foot and pull my sled everywhere.  Does anyone else have runners on their sled and do they find it helpful?  I use my smitty sled if there is a lot of snow.
Thanks

On the sled and flip over. No wear on the tubs. Tracks better.

hyfax runners yes, not wood. i use them on my extra large cabelas sled and all the different flip over shelters i buy. so i have installed them on 6 tubs now. makes them quieter pulling on some surfaces like slush and makes it pull mush easier on some surfaces like slush.

wouldn't go with out.

I avoid the store bought "hyfax" kits as they are soft plastic that does not stand up to pavement very well. Instead I purchase UHMW in rectangular bar to any dimensions I like for the application. Combine the UHMW with stainless hardware and you will be protected for years. 1/2" seems to be the proper thickness.
