Whopper Stopper think many of us are headed towards "Mud Season as temperatures rise with the approach of Spring. It must be nice to know you are missed by your former employer. May your BIL's doctor not find any problems that prevent him from helping you with the tree work.  Best to you getting the chainsaw running like new so it's ready for the annual job at the gun club. Have you or your SIL heard back from sheriff's department about your carry permit renewals.

Steve

I guess everyone likes to know they are missed, suppose I am no different. There sure were a few times that he came pretty close to getting his neck rung, once very close

The b-i-l has severe foot problems and was referred to a specialist in the jungle 3x a week. It's actually quite an undertaken as it's a 180 mile round trip for him and it's been going on for 8 weeks.

My s-i-l received her permit in the mail yesterday which surprised us because because last time it took the full 30 days for hers to arrive. I am guessing mine should be here in a week or so.

It's Yellowknife not Yellowstone!!!
  :roflmao:

HMMMMMM, what to do this weekend?
Quite the difference a week makes. Last weekend it was in the mid -40's with -60 to -70 windchills.

Got a call today from my flooring guy. My order is in and he is checking shipping costs for me.

Good evening ,Whopper Stopper thank you for the reply may the doctors help your BIL's foot problems. Hope you have the chainsaw tuned-up and ready for when you do the job. Good to read your SIL has received her carry permit.
Drifter-016 it is interesting how much the weather can change in a week or even a day. Good luck getting across the border if either you or IFF decide to visit one another.  ::)
Wallyworld thank you for the photos and report  happy for the two of you that ice conditions were good. Congratulations on your catch.

                    Good morning Eddie, ER's,
It's 26* and cloudy here on my hill, with a light breeze here. ::)
Steve.........No computer problems, I was running short on time to pick up my son #3 to head to the lake. :icefish:
Wally..........Looks like you had a decent day out. :flex: :flex:
Eddie..........Yes I was out chasing Lakers, the parking lot was not as crowded as I thought it would be. I'm sorry for your boss that his wife
and daughter lost their cars from the pine tree. :( Two years will go by quickly.
Marv...........I did my best and I had a decent amount of slime on my Artic Armor suit. :flex:
Bud............What a great thing you did for your niece, she should be happy to get it.
H2l.............I'm glad you and your wife mafde it safely to and from the city in that wind, and that your wife had a good report.
Yesterday #3 son and I hit the ice early, the conditions were perfect, no wind what so ever and mostly overcast. No sooner did we get set up
and we started marking fish. I ended up with 9 Lakers for the day and my son 13 or 14, he brought home 2 and I brought home 1. It was a long day
and I was tired when 8:30 arrive I hit the pillow and slept till 6:15 this morning, very unusual for me. Getting old I guess.
Not much going on this morning. I hope everyone has a good Thursday either at work or out. Stay Safe and healthy.

Wow almost 60 here today, all the snow melting away that we receive last weekend but not enough for the dry conditions we are having so far, at least the mountains have some white on them to hopefully fill the reservoir some for fishing and being able to get the boat in the water.  Looked at the boat parked last night one lake is going to be close to being able to get it on, just to figure out the cold water walleye bite.  Flying again Sunday so out of town again for a week.  Going to be a long summer at this rate with little fishing that I can see but not as bad as trying to get out ice fishing with pulling camper and all hate day trips anymore with all the hassle but with the boat can head out and be back in a short time if the fish are biting and the live well fills up.  Have a good end of the week to everyone, be safe out there.

Help I can't get off the skunk train took a double skunk today on cherokee and mendota. First lake auger issue with clam plate set up kicked holes open and found a few open already. 2nd Lake dumped the clam plate and used the hand auger still nothing. It was great weather though I probably should have stayed until sunset at least. Ice is still good all lakes at least for now.

Good evening ,after seeing a high near fifty yesterday only reached the mid thirties today but felt colder due to the wind . Gusts up to 30 mph at times.
Eddie hope you had a good work day.
Ice Wanderer good to read no computer problems for you. Congratulations to you and son #3 on a great day of fishing.   May you MIL be doing well after receiving her first Covid shot.
SpitzoMT may you have a good wrap up to your work week tomorrow. Any plans for one more ice fishing trip before the warmer weather makes ice conditions to risky.
Hunts2long the engines used in Jeeps over the years hold up well with proper maintenance not uncommon for people to put a couple hundred thousands miles on one.
Old Goat if you get in another ice fishing trip may it be a better day for you.
Wallworld guess I may be a little more sensitive to what folks post given my father's profession when i was younger and all the times I was told this conversation is not to leave the house /be shared after I was told something about a member of church my dad was serving at that time.
Fish/hunt4ever may you area see the water it needs and avoid any drought later this year. Safe travel and no delays this Sunday.
Icefisher-45 hope it has been a good week for you and your wife. May Mr. Dickens and the new kitten be adjusting to one another without problems.

Steve, Dave makes it sound like its so far away, 3518 km, sounds more like 2186 miles to me   Guess not many want to fly to Yellowknife, sure a lot of lay overs.  Wonder what fuel prices are doing across Canada ?  Bet its a pretty drive summer time.

Good Morning Everyone,
14*, winds are strong again this am 25-30, high of 24 today.

Bud...X2 on all the replies about gifting the Jeep, very well done Sir!!
Steve...we had a good day yesterday, looking forward to the closing bell today!   ;D  Calling for some 50* days next week here, imagine you’ll see some in the 60’s down your way.
OG...wondering, did you have problems also with the wing bolt on your extension coming off the Clam plate? Best of luck next trip out!
FH4...looking like some of your weather will be arriving here in a few days. Hopefully all works out well with the work/fishing schedules.
Wally...my Mom is doing well, lungs are clear and daily reports have been good. Limited visitation may begin on March 9th if all other restrictions are met, so keeping the fingers crossed everything works out on that! They will be doing the 15 minute Covid rapid tests to gain entry...however, they’re still waiting on them to arrive as of last evening. Cody is doing much better also...thank you for asking!
Spitz...hope you have a good day to wrap up the week!
Jeff... Good weather, good fishing, good times with your son...don’t think you could have had a better day!! Congratulations to you both on a great trip!!
Marv...it’s funny, I received a call as well from one of my old bosses recently...he heard through the grapevine we might be getting shut down.

It’s been a long week, looking forward to closing bell again today. Hoping to get a fishing trip in with one of my sons tomorrow, that’s still up in the air yet.
Time is catching up on me again this morning...but the Cawfee’s on and ready! Happy Friday all....
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!!

                 Good morning Eddie, ER's,
                           It's 11* and partly cloudy. ::)
Eddie..........I'm glad to hear that your mother is better from her bout with pneumonia and visitation might be starting up soon. :flex:
Wally...........These winds that we're getting sure mess up the fishing trips for me. :%$#!: Next week should be better but temps in the 50's
                  doesn't help the ice.
Marv...........When I first retired my boss called me a couple of times to see if I could fill in on jobs that no one else wanted, I didn't want them
                  either.
OG..............What's up with the skunk, I hope things turn around for you.
Bud.............Are you planning on visiting Dave? ???
Dave...........You are up there, probably a lot of open territory to cross.
With this wind shutting me down I'm taking the opportunity to finally go through my work bench, it was a mess. I got most of it straightened
out. I found things that I saved but don't remember what they were for. So I tossed them, problem is in two weeks I'll probably need it.
I hope everyone has a good Friday either at work or out. Stay Safe and Healthy.

Good morning Eddie, IW! Good morning everyone

35 heading to 50 later today. The snow remains on life support but hanging on. We still have a foot to go..

Eddie....Hope things work out for a fishing trip, good news about your Mom

IW.... I have a work bench that seems to get cluttered daily ??? I know what you mean about throwing stuff out

WW.... Hope you some excellent pictures, thanks for sharing

Yesterday was a long one with the chainsaw at my sisters. The good news is everything they needed cut down for the new septic system  is on the ground. The b-i-l has someone that wants everything I passed on so he was happy. I spent a lot of time cutting my oak blocks in quarters to make splitting easier. I am going to wait until the snow is down before finishing.

Today I am heading to the shack to knock down a pine next to the shack it's self. My plan is to knock it down and burn all the brush taking advantage of the snow. I need to limber up some first before hitting the road.

Hope you all have a good day  Stay safe and stay healthy.

10* and breezy.
Eddie, thanks for the update on your mother. Good luck if you make it out to the ice. 3 day contest starts today on the lake.
The cold weather sure isn't helping the sap run. My nephew has 600+ trees tapped and is waiting. The wind and sun has knocked the snow down.

"Scuffy" is always first. My nephew had just got home from work.

Morning all,

Eddie.....glad to hear Mom and Cody are doing well   good luck if hitting the ice tomorrow  :icefish:

IW.....Mother Nature sure seems to not be on our side as far as ice fishing goes  :(  fingers crossed open water sees better conditions  ;)

WS....hope you're able to get stretched out and feeling better this morning    :flex:  (bet you were expecting some Mom advice  :woot: )

IFF....layovers are good things, no running to catch the next flight, time to get a snack and time for people watching which is always interesting in an airport   ;)2

MrC....I always heard the same thing from my folks "this conversation is NOT to leave this house"  :nono:  apparently I had a tendency to be a "blabbermouth"

OG.....sorry that skunk seems to have taken a liking to you   :-\   hope you can sneak away from him next time out

H2L....thoughts of the boat are popping up more and more with each passing day   :woot:

Another cold windy day on tap, not much more than a grocery store run on the planner  :-\

Have a good day. Stay safe, stay healthy.

Morning H2L....great pic, thanks for sharing

Good Morning ER's  17* here and warming up but not over 40.  Eddie glad your mom is better. There was no wing nut issue yesterday I had the drill on the wrong setting. I added the extension to a 5 inch frabill auger. IW we have had a strange year here at least 3 maybe 4 first ice conditions. It's not just me getting skunked 4 people coming off ice when I got to lake 1 said to not waste my time there nothing happening. 2nd lake only 1 person landed one 30 inch pike. That was the only other group out near me. I have only been to 15 ft. max so far as I get tired out quickly walking. Maybe try a deeper pond today if time. If I go I'll take the flasher out for only the 2nd time this year. Usually it's just the bucket, hand auger and scoop.

Good morning still windy here currently in the low twenties heading to the middle thirties for the days high temperature. Some good news for me with regards to lacrosse two colleges in my area that play on the Div.3 level might have seasons this year as there respective conferences  have decided to hold limited seasons. Marist which plays at the Div. 1 level starts its Men's season tomorrow I will watch the live stream on college athletics website as campus is closed to visitors at this time.
Eddie happy to hear thee good news concerning your mother and possible nursing home visits.  Glad Cody is feeling and doing better. May today be another good one at the workplace. Best to you and your sons if you get out fishing tomorrow.
IFF thinking about a Summer trip to the Drifter/Dave's section of Canada this Summer if regulations allow for travel across the border .
Ice Wanderer may we see less wind next week and you get in another fishing trip or two before ice conditions get to bad. Funny how after cleaning /organizing you find a need for things you tossed out because they have set unused collecting dust for years. Curious has Mealworm and his family found time for an ice fishing trip this season.
Whopper Stopper good to read you have all the trees felled at your sisters and now it is just clean up and splitting the oak you want for firewood. nice that your BIL has someone who will take the wood you are leaving behind. Hope you are able to limber up and get the tree work done at your shack.
Hunts2long glad they are having the Food-n-Fuel contest this year know it helps your area's economy. Your Nephew has gotten into maple syrup production big time may the weather change and the sap start running for him. Nice photos of "Scuffy ,question for you I thought feeding deer was a violation of DEC regulations assume it maybe that you can not feed during hunting season.
Wallyworld may the winds end with the coming week  starting to feel like the Movie Ground Hog Day with regards to the weather. May you find all the items on your list at the grocery store. Going by my life experience think many younger children have been told this conversation is not to leave the house especial after they have share certain things with other people. ::)
Old Goat hope you have not damage your auger by having the drill on wrong setting.
Drifter-016 may all be good with you any fishing /cabin trips on your agenda. Good to hear the cabin flooring is in stock may the shipping costs not be to high.

Have a safe and good Friday. Best to all with the fishing today and this weekend.

Jeff, Steve,  NWT is not on the planner like the oldest Daughter for her 60th an RV adventure from Wisconsin, to SC, a stay at Myrtle Beach over Memorial weekend. Then Minnesota in June.  Might be best to check and pack along a passport, in case I make a wrong turn some place.

Dave, good luck with your summer plan

Pat, yeah I have noticed that in the airports this past year.  :cookoo: I must need new glasses, I could only make out 18 in the picture

Marv, good you can take advantage of the snow cover and burn brush, I have often wished I could do that here in the city.

time to feed my face, other than coffee.

8* with a slight breeze.
IW, it might be a short sap season, but he thinks next week should be good. He has a RO this years so should reduce boiling time and less wood.
Eddie, a lot of guys out yesterday, I am sure a lot are staying overnight. Not the best weather, cold and very windy. I will take a ride down to the campsite later this morning.
Even with these cold temps I am starting to see some open water running in both E and W Stoney. They will be running next week.
Have a good day and stay well...h2l
