any little bit of runoff will start triggering a few to start trickling in to the shallows i would guess

Depending on the loction of your lake, they are in pre-spawn and very negitive up in the great white north here. We were getting em in 25-30 feet of water last week and 40-45 this week. They are acting goofy but in 2-3 weeks and they will be on the feed after the spawn.

The last couple of weeks we've been hitting good numbers in 12 -13' of water on Lake Manitoba, but they are also being caught in 2' of water under 3' of ice, but mostly just singles there.

littlesturgeonguy,

If you stick to the inland waters you can fish perch year round in Wisconsin.  Regulations are on the DNR's web site here:

http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/water/fhp/fish/seasons/panfish.htm

Don't give it up any sooner than you have to.  Just be safe and stay dry.

LSG, The cold snap had driven those perch back out on the Bay. Nearest to shore I can find any perch is about 20' fow, I am on the west side tho. I fished from the 14-9' the other day and didnt mark a single fish.
