Married or single??
« on: Feb 24, 2005, 02:38 PM »
Just curious about what percentage of people on the shanty are married versus single. How does it impact your time fishing?  I, for one, am single , (for a while yet but not long )

I'm married...although during bow season, shotgun season, the late bow season, anytime there is ice on the lake, or when fish are biting on the soft water....my wife is pretty much a widow.  Not sure if that qualifies and single or not

Married with two kids (2 1/2 yr old and 4 month old boys).  Wife has been fairly accomodating with the ice fishing, but I'm sure she will be glad when the ice is gone.  I have taken her and my older son out a couple of times this season (she caught her first fish through the ice - a 14" rainbow) a couple weeks ago.  Looking to get a 4-wheeler after this season, and I'd be willing to bet she will be along for a few more trips next year.

Thanks PIKEGUY. Unfortunately, she just moved to Miami with her mother (my ex.) I'm hoping I can get her up to Montana for some ice fishing in a couple of years, because there is no way she can do it down there!

Was married for 18 years and then divorced. I re-married in March of 2001 and consider myself a lucky man. My wife is not really interested in my outdoor endevours but does not stop me or hinder me from going anytime I want to. I have never gotten one ounce of flack about the time I spend pursuing my love of the outdoors or the money I spend doing so. I have a 20 year old daughter that now has two kids of her own. At 41 years of age I consider myself too young to be called Grandpa, but whats a guy to do. I also have a 12 year old step son who is a great kid.

Happily married for 35 yrs, which makes me a bit of an old coot, but it's been a good run so far.  My wife hates boats, even is edgy on 200-car ferries, but encourages me to get out whenever the urge strikes me.  She doesn't mind shore fishing as long as she can knit, read or do needlework while waiting for a bite.  I bait the hooks and remove the fish, so it's a pretty clean sport for her whenever I can persuade her to come out.  But we both love to eat fish, so I, at least, get out pretty often.

Married almost 10 years 3 kids 8,7, and 2.  I should say married for now.......if the ice holds much longer I may be single again.lol  After almost 4 months of bowhunting I am really pushing my luck with the last 4 weekends of icefishing.

Married for 29 years.  She hates boats, she hates to fish.   She gives me the freedom to fish anytime I want and by myself.  She is great!!!!!!!

I am married for GULP.....17 years now. I knew my wife for 5 months and a day before we got married. In all the years she has been supportive of my outdoor activities and joins me from time to time, even on the ice. I am very lucky to have such a great, smart and beautiful woman. We have 2 boys 10 and 7 who love the outdoors but hate to touch bait and take fish off the hooks  ;D.

Married for 35 yrs. and a grandpa 4 times over. I consider myself a very lucky guy-my wife actually incourages me to go fishing and hunting. She loves fresh fish and venison(not at the same time-you know what I mean). :)
