Flasher question
« on: Apr 24, 2018, 09:31 AM »
ok so ive fished with flx-8, flx-12, and marcum showdowns and personally i prefer the vexilars, and ive used the flx 12 most because thats what one of my friends has and he lets me borrow if im jigging and hes deadsticking but i was doing some looking and ive found an flx 12 pro pack for $449.99 but i also found an flx 28 pro pack for $649.99 and im wondering if spending the extra 200 dollars is worth it or not

There is no FLX-8 ....the X  on the newer units for lack of a better term is for "XTRA" as compared to their pervious incarnations... more IR functions for starters ...some have 10 foot modes....night mode . To answer your question the FLX 28 has many added features ...one being bottom zoom mode . .. which the FL8,FL12 OR THE FLX12 does not have ..bottom zoom is very nice for bottom hugging fish.

flx28 has more color palletes, weed mode, auto depth  range or manual and  6ft/12ft bottom zoom.flx12 is a good unit but imo the flx28 is worth the extra coin.

The difference in price is even less if you buy a reconditioned unit direct from Vexilar. I got my FLX28 from them, aside from a sticker that says reconditioned on the box, I couldn't tell it from new.

  • Rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6.

The marcum m5 and lx6 and 7 are sure worth a look, but if I were to get another vex the fl18 would be my pick.

i think the digital dial,  zoom option and the weed mode make it better in my opinion.   if you fish less than 20' of water for the most part, the fl12 will be fine though.  i prefer the ducer you get with the 12 over the proview ducer.
